Lose Weight, And Lose Stress Too

While I watched the show the Biggest Loser the other night, I heard one of the trainers say that if you are stressed, it can cause you to gain weight.. The stress you feel can cause many things. Stress can lead to unhealthy problems for a person. The effects of stress include water retention, and that will mean that it will take more hard work to lose the pounds that you desire. More work is required to get the same results that are attained when a person is not stressed. Another effect is that a person is more sluggish and finds it more difficult to find the desire to workout. Some people use the term emotional eating. That means because of some stress that they are feeling they feel the need to eat to relieve the stress. When a person feels burdened by problems it can result in a variety of unhealthy things that includes cardiac problems.

According to the advertising we see, all we have to do is listen to a bunch of experts to get rid of our unsightly belly bulge. If you are watching television late at night it is hard to miss the next great machine that will help you do the perfect six pack ab exercises. We are told that in no time at all, we will reach our goals and it just costs a few pennies a day. We buy these products with our hard earned money and eagerly await their arrival. The anticipation of delivery is unbearable because of our desire to get rid of the weight. When it arrives, we try to use it with the best intentions, but in the end we lose interest and the product fails because it is not used. Because we put out cash for the product we feel guilty about not using it, and it joins a group of other things in the things were going to do pile.

If it is not an infomercial that is selling some machine that gets us, it is the diet book that promises us the secret to how to lose weight fast that catches our eyes. Again we have good intentions and work very hard to get the needed food that the book suggests. We expend a lot of time and energy to get the suggested items and analyze everything we do on a daily basis. Starting a diet is hard work and hard work is stressful. Because there is always something going on in our lives that is against the ideas of the books that we use, it is very difficult to always do as the plans say we should. We give into our wants, despite all the stress the decision causes. The bad decisions we make one day come back to haunts us in the future making the diet even more stressful.

It does not help to feel stress when you are trying to lose weight, but it is hard to avoid. In order to successfully diet a person has to realize that they can not eliminate all of the stress in their life, but they can control the stress. Just because someone tells them what they did to successfully lose weight, does not mean it will work for someone else. Some people join a club to offer them support and help shoulder the stress. Others find that support by joining a chat group such as the ones that can be found on The biggest loser forum. Some people find support through music and spending quiet time alone. It is not important how a person controls their stress. Reducing stress cannot be avoided. Not just because a person is dieting, but because relieving stress is a vital part of a long and healthy life.
